Overview
Curious about weaving? In this hands-on beginner weaving class, you’ll learn the fundamentals of frame loom weaving in a relaxed and welcoming studio environment.
Using a beginner frame loom, you’ll learn how to:
- Set up and warp your loom
- Choose and work with different yarns and fibers
- Create texture and pattern using techniques like plain weave, rya knots, and soumak
- Finish and display your woven mug rug(s). Each person will make at least one mug rug, you might have time to make 2 or take supplies home to continue.
Throughout the workshop, you’ll explore color, texture, and composition while creating your own small woven wall hanging to take home.
No experience is necessary. This workshop is designed for beginners and is perfect for anyone interested in fiber art, textile art, slow crafting, or learning a new creative skill.
All materials are included, including looms, yarns, and weaving tools. Additional weaving supplies and looms will also be available for purchase if you'd like to continue weaving at home.
Join us at That Creative Space in Beacon, NY for an afternoon of creativity, making, and the meditative rhythm of weaving.
