Felt Mending & Embellishing Workshop (Adult & 15+, Beginner Friendly)

Give new life to your clothing in this creative needle felting and visible mending workshop at That Creative Space in Beacon, NY. Please note this is an adult workshop but teens 15+ are welcome.

Overview
Whether you’re patching a hole, repairing a worn spot, or decorating a favorite sweater or jean jacket, this hands-on class teaches you how to refresh and personalize your wardrobe using felt, color, and texture. Bring an item that needs mending—or make your own felted patch if you don’t have something at home. This workshop is perfect for beginners interested in sustainable fashion, slow craft, and fiber arts

What You’ll Learn
You’ll learn the basics of needle felting for mending and how to embellish clothing with wool roving. We’ll also cover wet felting techniques to help your design bond securely to your garment. You’ll explore design templates, choose from a variety of colors, and discover easy techniques that work beautifully on natural fibers like wool, linen, flannel, and denim. This class is ideal for anyone curious about DIY clothing repair, visible mending, and simple sustainable textile techniques.

What You’ll Make
You’ll create a felted repair or decorative embellishment on an item you bring from home—such as a sweater, jean jacket, cloth tote, or scarf. If you don’t have an item to mend, you can create felted patches from our fabric scraps to sew onto clothing later. Feel free to bring more than one piece for inspiration.

What You’ll Take Home
You’ll leave with a freshly mended or beautifully embellished item, felting needle and practical skills you can use to continue mending, repairing, and personalizing your clothing at home. This workshop is a great way to embrace
sustainable fashion, reduce textile waste, and add handmade character to your wardrobe.

About Teaching Artist
Jenny has been a teaching artist for the past 10 years and has been working with fiber and textiles for the past 5 years. She loves creating sculptures using needle felting, wet felting and paper. Cancellation and Refund Policy

Please read our policy

We retain the right to cancel any workshop or class that does not meet the minimum enrollment requirement. Should a cancellation occur due to insufficient enrollment, a full refund will be issued to registered participants. For one-time workshops, cancellations will result in a class transfer or credit. For classes spanning multiple sessions, a 100% refund will be granted for requests received at least 14 days prior to the first session. A 75% refund will be issued for requests made at least 7 days before the first session. Please note that all refunds are subject to a $45 processing fee. If a class is canceled due to instructor illness or inclement weather, we will make every effort to reschedule. Refunds, transfers, or application fee reimbursements will not be provided on or after the date of the first class.

For ALL workshops inside the classroom, you must: Have sufficient vision to be able to see and perceive instructions and demonstrations by a workshop instructor independently or with the assistance of a designated companion. We offer a complimentary ticket for anyone that needs a companion for both our adults and youth programs. Be able to remain adequately fed, hydrated, and properly manage all personal medications, including dosing and administration, independently or with the assistance of a designated companion. Be able to participate in a group setting without negatively impacting or jeopardizing the health or safety of the other participants or instructors. Be able to maintain your own safety in an environment where allergen exposure and cross- contamination may occur. For our OUTDOOR or RETREAT WORKSHOPS you will be required to sign a liability waiver to participate. PHOTO/VIDEO RELEASE By participating in any classes, workshops, or events at That Creative Space, you grant permission for photographs and/or video footage of you and/or your artwork created during the class to be used by That Creative Space for promotional purposes. If you do not wish to be photographed or recorded, please notify a staff member in writing prior to the start of the class or event.
