Overview
Drawing isn’t magic — and it isn’t reserved for the “talented.” It’s a skill you can learn. In this welcoming, beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll discover how artists actually see— and why learning to draw is more about perception than perfection. Through a series of time-tested exercises (including techniques inspired by Betty Edwards’ Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain), you’ll gently shift into “drawing mode,” quiet your inner critic, and build confidence one line at a time.
You’ll explore:
- Simple contour drawing
- Seeing and using negative space
- Upside-down drawing (yes, really!)
- Light, shadow, and creating form
- Mark-making and observation
- How to build a sustainable sketchbook practice
This is a space to experiment, slow down, and reconnect with the joy of looking closely. No pressure. No grades. Just practice and progress. Perfect for total beginners and anyone who wants to return to drawing with fresh eyes.
