Learn the fundamentals of watercolor painting in a joyful, welcoming studio at That Creative Space in Beacon, NY.
This beginner-friendly watercolor workshop is perfect for adults and families who are curious about watercolor and want a fun, easygoing way to get started.
Together, we’ll explore the basics of watercolor—brush handling, color mixing, layering, and washes—while leaving plenty of room to play, experiment, and let the paint do its thing. Watercolor is known for its fluid, expressive nature, and this class embraces that, inviting you to slow down and enjoy the naturally calming, almost meditative rhythm of working with water and color.
Led by teaching artist Laura Leigh, the class is intentionally relaxed and supportive. Laura’s teaching style is approachable and encouraging, making this a great space to try something new, loosen up, and enjoy the process—no pressure to be perfect, just room to explore.
All watercolor supplies included.
No experience necessary. All skill levels welcome.
About the Teaching Artist: Laura Leigh is a fine artist and maker of organic watercolor paints based in New Paltz, NY. Laura blends the line between abstraction and landscape in her plein air oil paintings. After completing her BFA in Painting and Drawing from SUNY New Paltz in 2014, she has completed several artist's residency programs, many in national parks. Laura has created her own earth pigment library made from Ochre minerals and clay from around the country, and now spends most of her time teaching online and in person classes. She believes that painting is therapeutic and wants to help heal and connect people through creative expression.
