Block 3 Overview – Departure from Reality
Format: 4 weeks, this is the last in a series of a 12-week course for Adults and 16+.
Materials: To make it easier and most cost efficient for students in this class, the studio will collect $20 cash on the first day of class that will go to purchasing supplies for class. The studio will purchase paper and drawing tools that you'll be able to share & take home. Your are welcome to bring any tools you already have (soft pencils, charcoal, conte, dip pens, and brushes).
Taught by Carinda Swann, former Executive Director of Garrison Art Center. Carinda taught basic drawing and 2D design at Marist College for 15 years and has also taught at Dutchess Community College. She founded the Summer Institute at Garrison Art Center—a three-week immersive program for serious high school artists—and also served as a teaching artist. She holds an MFA in Fine Arts with a focus on drawing and sculpture. In Beacon, she serves on the planning team of ROLL-OUT Beacon, a free, community-wide event where artists create large-scale woodblocks that are printed with a steamroller.
