Overview
Discover the fascinating art of metal casting, a centuries-old craft that continues to inspire artists and makers today. In this hands-on workshop, you'll explore traditional casting methods alongside modern materials and techniques to create your own one-of-a-kind pewter pieces.
Working with lead-free pewter, you'll be introduced to the process of metal casting, from creating molds to transforming molten metal into solid objects. You'll learn about three different mold-making materials—sand, cuttlefish bone, and silicone—and discover how each offers a different approach to capturing shapes, details, and textures. Throughout the workshop, you'll have the opportunity to experiment with these techniques, explore the possibilities of working with metal, and gain a deeper appreciation for a craft that has been practiced for generations. By the end of the experience, you'll leave with your own pewter creations and a new understanding of the materials and methods behind metal casting.
