What is Listen & Craft & How Does It Work?
If you haven't heard of Silent Book Club, it is a global community of readers with 2,200+ chapters in 70 countries. There's no assigned reading — it's bring your own book.
Similar to their regular monthly Silent Book Club meetups, you bring a book of your choosing (in this case an audiobook), your headphones, as well as something to do while you listen to your book. You can do a puzzle, knit, crochet, paint, or even read your physical book while listening to the audio version đź‘€ (no judgement!)
One of the nice things about having this event at That Creative Space, is that not only can bring your own craft but your welcome to use our materials (you won't find an easel in a bar or coffee shop :) or if your not sure what to do with your hands while you listen, we can help with a little inspiration.
Registration Information:
Please register in advance if you’re planning to join us! It helps us know how many people to expect and make sure we’re ready for everyone.
Can’t commit until the last minute? That’s okay, too. If you decide an hour before that you’d like to come, just drop in—we won’t turn you away at the door.
There is a suggested $10 donation to help cover studio costs, but no one will be turned away for lack of payment. You can donate in advance or pay by cash or Venmo at the studio on the day of the event.
We’ll have non-alcoholic drinks on hand, and you’re welcome to BYO drinks or bring a snack to share.
About Silent Book Club:
Silent Book Club started in San Francisco in 2012 when two friends, Guinevere de la Mare and Laura Gluhanich, began reading together at their neighborhood wine bar. They loved books and reading with friends, but found that traditional book clubs often came with the pressure to finish a selected book or have something insightful to say about it. They wondered: What if there were a book club where people could simply enjoy books, friends, and drinks—without any homework?
In 2015, they officially launched Silent Book Club with a mission to unite a global community of book lovers through the shared joy of reading together. Since then, it has grown into a worldwide community of readers and local chapters.
